Privacy Policy

Overview

Lightning Distance (“the App”) is developed and provided by Daelin Campleman (“we,” “us,” or “our”). The App has no account, advertising, analytics or tracking. We do not collect or store your personal data on our servers.

Information the App uses

  • Location: With your permission, the App uses your current location to centre the map and draw the estimated lightning-strike radius around you. Your location is not stored by the App or sent to us.
  • Timing input: The two taps you make when you see lightning and hear thunder are processed on your device to estimate the strike distance. These measurements are not sent to us.
  • Preferences: Settings such as your selected measurement system and temperature adjustment are stored locally on your device.

How information is used

Information handled by the App is used only to provide its core features: calculating an estimated distance, displaying that estimate, and drawing it on the map. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling or analytics.

Storage and sharing

Lightning measurements and your location are not uploaded to a developer-owned server. The App does not sell or share your personal information. Your preferences may be included in device backups managed by Apple, depending on your device and iCloud settings.

Apple services

The App uses Apple platform services to provide maps and location. Your device's use of those services is governed by your Apple settings and Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive your location from Apple.

Your choices

  • Location access: You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device's Settings app.
  • Local data: You can remove locally stored App data by deleting the App. Some data may remain in device backups until those backups are deleted or expire.

Children's privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because no personal information is collected by us, we do not retain information about a user's age.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App changes. The latest version will be posted here with its effective date.
